Meaningful fast

October 8, 2011 By Stan Zaslavsky

Today is marking another 24 hr fast that I’ve completed in my life.

It’s the annual fast called Yom Kippur that I adhere to ever since I was 13 – something that I’ve kept up with because I found it such an emotional experience.

During this time although I carry on with life and activities – the fact that deep inside I know that I’m hungry – it’s a subtle reminder to be grateful for life and where we are today.

And at the completion of the fast – it just becomes such a rewarding experience, one of gratefulness and humility – that every year no matter what is before me – I will continue on with the tradition.
