Although I didn’t get to raise as much as I was hoping for the Lighthouse Charity – I did complete the half marathon of 21.1 kms on Sunday the 26th of July.
Overall was a great run – started off at a chilly 6 or so degrees in the morning at 7am – but we soon warmed up and got going. I was running with my buddy Ray who’s training for the New York marathon so he was super fit and ready to go.
Having done much longer distances before, I was a bit relaxed coming into this one – I was hoping to complete in under 1.45 and ended up doing 1.46.11 which wasn’t too far off the mark.
If anything – I still count the Great Ocean Road marathon as a much more scenic and enjoyable run, but at least I can tick this one off the list. Probably the main highlight of the run – was the jog along the Southbank boulevard and trying to avoid all the ducking and weaving people in front who wasted a lot of energy jumping around casual passers by and the nightclub crowd who were just waking up from their overnight partying slumber.
Onwards and upwards – now need to pick out a race for next year to keep fit and active.
